Roll Out! Glute Release
The aches and pains that come along with pregnancy can be incredibly frustrating and deeply affect your mental health and well being.
There's the nagging low back pain and pubic pain that feels like someone's hammering away at the bone. Sore and achey feet and legs. Stiff neck and shoulders. Okay, okay…I think you get the picture.
The same is true postpartum. I truly felt like I needed an entire team of people to help me feel better after the birth of my sons. I was seeing physiotherapists and massage therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths. It felt like I had achieved total VIP status.
I was able to reduce a lot of my discomfort through exercise and yoga but the tension that accumulates in our body can affect our mobility (as well as our motivation) and getting out and see a professional on a regular basis can be incredibly challenging.
Enter in-self massage!
Self massage is an accessible way to relieve tension and strain and help you feel empowered as you’re able to tend to your own aches and pains. This is so helpful in creating body awareness and feeling capable and confident.
One of the areas that need some extra love during pregnancy and postpartum are the hips. These big muscles around the pelvis tend to be quite stiff and overloaded and greatly affect the function of our core and pelvic floor. So spending some time releasing tense, gripped muscles is incredibly helpful…and feels so good!
