Neck Relief: Stretches for Sore, Stiff Necks

Aug 1, 2025 | Move Well

Okay mama, take a moment right now to check in with your head posture.

If you’re anything like me you’re scrolling on your phone or maybe you’re sitting at your desk, and your head is either dropped down or pushed out in front. Amiright?

Believe me, you are not alone when it comes to sore, stiff neck muscles, my friend. The term “tech neck’“ has been coined for just this reason.

It’s true we spend a lot more time staring down at our phones or without awareness of our posture while working or even sitting and cuddling little babes.

Now don’t worry just yet. You don’t need to vow never to scroll Instagram again. But there are some SUPER simple ways to counteract all that tension that’s created with less than optimal head alignment.

So let’s take a moment before we get into the feel good stuff to just check in with your alignment. Take a moment to pull your ears back so they stack over your shoulders. And make a little double chin action.

Feel weird? Probably. But this position actually lengthens the back of your neck and helps all the little muscles of your neck kick in and actually work to hold your head up. Amazing!

Okay, now that you know what you’re working toward, let’s take a few minutes to give your neck some much needed love.

Enjoy this short sequence of a few of my go-to neck exercises to help release over taxed muscles and strengthen the ones that are underused.

Enjoy, this little gift to you!
